Goodbye holidays! Time to get back to reality and we’re doing it in a style by playing Polish jazz and funk tracks that we love and want to share with you.

Poles Aloud Show – 26th & 28th April 2015

On the show today, we’re talking about the importance of your vote in the upcoming elections and looking at how the Polish community gets involved in the discussion on immigration. We spoke to Jerzy Byczynski, the co-ordinator of the British Poles campaign, who explained the reasons behind the drive and how you can find out what your local MPs stand is on the Polish and immigration issues.

We’re also looking at the winners of Fryderyki 2015 – an equivalent of Brit and Classic Brit Awards – and sharing our thoughts and feelings on “Ashes and Diamonds” as part of the Kinoteka Film Festival.

Poles Aloud Show – 19th & 21st April 2015

Following Magda’s trip to The Big Smoke last weekend, we’re going to bring you some of the highlights from the Kinoteka Polish Film Festival. From poster’s exhibition, through to Oscar nominated documentaries and finishing off with a real treat for cinema lovers; Martin Scorsese Presents Masterpieces of Polish Cinema. We spoke to Marlena Łukasiak, the festival’s organiser about the origin of the festival and its development into one of the biggest film events in London. We also caught up with one of the acts, The Kissinger Twins, who delivered a fascinating presentation on interactive story telling (cinematic labyrinths).

A journey back into a Polish childhood will take us in front of the telly (yeah, yeah, terrible!) to find out what sort of programmes were popular when growing up in Poland in the 80s and 90s. We’re going to look at children’s TV shows like “Tik-Tak” and “5-10-15” and compare them with the British “Blue Peter”. Check out some of the samples of the opening tunes together with short bits of the shows. What do you think?
