Join us for Michael’s birthday bash as we’re looking at the sweet side of Polish parties and debate on the love of horoscope amongst Poles. The music we chose this week will reflect the birthday theme with some real gems like the “Czterdziestolatek” tune or Ryszard Rynkowski’s song “Dziś są twoje urodziny”. Enjoy the show!
And as usual; headlines from Poland, World Weird Web (bizarre, wonderful and strange news from around the world) and Polish for beginners (which hopefully Magda won’t forget about in this episode ;))

It’s a jam-packed show today. So many things to let you know about and share some great music, we hope that the one hour will be enough.
To start with, we’re going to captivate you with a song by an up and coming Polish band Notoryczni Debiutanci, their piece is called Szczęście (Luck) and is premiering on Poles Aloud this week.
Magda just came back from a conference in London organised by the Migrant Voice concentrating on the problems migrants face in the UK, issues of negative media rhetoric in regards to portraying migrant stories and refugees crisis. But there were plenty of positive things throughout the day where you could hear heart warming accounts of overcoming fears and trouble and making a good living here in the UK. We’re going to hear from the director of Migrant Voice, Nazek Ramadan, about the most significant messages coming from this year’s conference.
And as usual; headlines from Poland, World Weird Web (bizarre, wonderful and strange news from around the world) and Polish for beginners (teaching you a word or two of Polish). Wow, that’s a lot! Told you it’s going to be jam-packed 😉

Exciting times on Poles Aloud today – we’ve got the winner of Bradley Stoke’s Got Music singing her winning song for us. Julia Barela is a young aspiring singer of Polish origin, who came to the UK with her parents at the age of two. We’re going to hear Julia singing the Christina Perri song “Jar of hearts” and find out about how she copes with life in both cultures and languages.

In the second part of the show we’re going to share with you a Polish wedding tradition that’s experienced some transformation in recent years. So if you’re invited to a Polish wedding anytime soon, you might want to take a notice of this one.
There will also be our usual blocks of Headlines from Poland (current news from politics, sport, economy and culture), World Weird Web (bizarre, funny and strange news from around the world) and Polish for Beginners (teaching you a word or two of Polish).
We’re delighted to share a track by an up and coming Polish artist Paulina Kosobucka, whose song “Distraction” premiers on Poles Aloud today. Exciting!

Have you seen the Hairy Bikers’ trip to Poland? Not yet? It’s a must watch, but not on an empty stomach. Have they done justice to the Polish cuisine? Will every person in Britain now know what bigos is and how to make your own sausage? We’ll have a little chat about that on the show today.

We also just came back from our holidays in Poland and brought you some interesting stories from the south-eastern region of Podkarpacie, that we’ll be sharing on the Poles Aloud show regularly. And we’ve got the usual bits of World Weird Web and Polish for Beginners.
