Poles Aloud show 10

Every Sunday at 5pm on Somer Valley FM & Monday at 1pm on Bradley Stoke Radio

Last week we introduced you to some of the Polish Christmas traditions – Mikołajki & Szopki – and today we carry on with the Christmas spirit, looking at the diminishing tradition of Kolędnicy.

Lesson on Polish history – remembering the victims of the communist crackdown against the Solidarity movement. This year the anniversary of introducing the Martial Law in Poland (13-12-1981) was accompanied by an unusually peaceful campaign – “Light a Candle for Freedom”.

Also on the show – news, what’s on, entertainment and plenty of Christmas tunes, typically Polish so you can get a taste of the Christmas music back in Poland.

POLES ALOUD – bringing you a slice of Poland every week to the South West.

Apart from a weekly radio show, we also organise a free annual music, art and culture event in the Colston Hall’s foyer – find out more details here and on facebook.
